Offbeat Magazine Guest Mix:: SXNO mixed by Carmine P. Filthy

Every year, hundreds of musicians from around the world converge on Austin, Texas for the annual South by Southwest Music Conference. Many of these acts stop in New Orleans before or after the conference/festival to pick up an extra gig, and with events such as the Foburg Festival bringing more indie rockers to New Orleans around SXSW, it was time for the electronic musicians to get their shine in NOLA.

Enter SXNO, a new festival created to give shine to electronic and dance artists in New Orleans, a city that has always loved nothing more than to dance. SXNO is the brainchild of three of New Orleans’ electronic music concert promoters: SimplePlay Presents, The Social Service, and Carmine P. Filthy. Over the course of two nights at the Howlin Wolf—next Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20—New Orleans will get a taste of Frite Nite Records’ Salva, B. Bravo and Epcot (Saturday night), as well as experimental electro/dubstep performers Daedelus, TOKiMONSTA, and Shlohmo (Sunday night).

Tickets are available for only $20 as a 2-day pass, good for both nights. Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20, Howlin Wolf.

To give readers a chance to sample the music at this new electronic music festival, SXNO founder and DJ Carmine P. Filthy—who played the Le Plur dance tent at last year’s Voodoo Experience—put together this OffBeat Guest Mix to highlight tracks from the SXNO performers. Stream it here or download below.
